Davis Community Meals and Housing provides free meals, a Resource Center, Transitional Housing Program, a Supportive Housing Program, and Street Outreach.
Volunteers are needed to support and sustain these vital programs.
Meals Program
Volunteer groups and individual volunteers are needed for our Tuesday evening meals and our Saturday lunch. Volunteers help prepare the meals, set up the dining hall, serve the meals and clean up the kitchen and hall at the conclusion of the meal. Volunteers are needed from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Tuesdays, and from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. Sign up here to help with our Meals Program Tuesdays or Thursdays or Saturdays. Meals are prepared and served at the Church of St. Martin at 640 Hawthorn Lane, Davis.
Resource Center
Our Resource Center needs volunteers on the weekdays from 8 am to 2 pm. Volunteers assist individuals get clothing and food and care for basic needs, and provide assistance to staff. Volunteers must be trained for these positions and are required to agree to a long-term volunteer commitment after training. Our Resource Center is located at 1111 H Street, Davis.
Flex Bed Shelter
We have been proud to partner with the City of Davis to administer the congregate site, formerly known as the Emergency Winter Shelter. This program accepts volunteers through the HRI (Health-Related Internship) program in coordination with UCD. The volunteers assist with administering clients intakes, ensure that residents are safe and that all shelter rules are followed, provide life skills information and socialize with our residents. The Flex Bed Shelter is run at Paul’s Place at 1111 H Street, Davis.
